This is the beginning of week two for these black cookies girls. Two of the plants have got roots down into the reservoirs so far and the growth rate is increased on those two because of it.
They are about 2” taller than the two that are still establishing their roots. There is new growth on all the plants. But there is an obvious difference in the ones that have established roots in the res. This is not a big deal as all the plants will be topped (we will attempt a FIM actually) by the time they reach the first level ring on the tomato cages. That will force the lateral branches to grow, creating many tops. Which is what we are aiming for. We would like a good 10+ tops per plant combined with an even canopy to give us the best coverage of foliage for a great harvest. We haven’t done anything to the reservoir as far as nutrients this week since the plants have barely used any of the nutrient at this point. We will aim to keep the EC in the res between 1.0 & 2.0 right now we are sitting at 1.3 so we’re good.
This should be a great run this time as we have grown black cookies for a while now and know what to expect.
