- 1-2 tablespoons neutral oil of choice
- ½ medium onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- ½ cup orange juice, or 1 medium orange
- 1 lime, juiced
- ½ cup water
- 2 teaspoons (or capfuls) liquid smoke
- 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
